Last week photographer representative, Heather Elder published "Dear Art Buyer," an open letter addressing a number of questions/concerns that commonly surface between artist reps and buyers.
In a nutshell, she expresses a need for more transparency with project details, and backs each point with a clear explanation as to how it would improve the representative-buyer relationship. She encouraged feedback and recently received a follow-up from Bonnie Brown, Sr. Art Producer at Butler, Shine, Stern and Partners.
Heather's post and Bonnie’s reply both offer tremendous insight into the expectations on both sides of the business. If you're a photographer, an illustrator, a rep or a buyer, this is a definite must read.
